Vertiv accelerates the development of AI infrastructure, adapting to NVIDIA’s 800 V direct current (DC)

Designed for next-generation artificial intelligence factories, Vertiv’s 800 V direct current solutions are planned for 2026 to support NVIDIA’s rack-scale compute platforms.

Vertiv - a global provider of critical digital infrastructure - has confirmed its strategic alignment with NVIDIA’s announced AI development roadmap regarding the deployment of 800 V direct current (DC) power architectures for next-generation AI-focused data centers. Vertiv’s 800 V DC solution portfolio, which lays the groundwork for future-ready designs, is scheduled for the second half of 2026 - even before the release of NVIDIA Kyber and NVIDIA Rubin Ultra platforms.

Vertiv aligns its developments with NVIDIA’s AI roadmap to be one GPU generation ahead, giving customers the opportunity to deploy power and cooling infrastructure in sync with NVIDIA’s next-generation compute platforms. Vertiv provides comprehensive solutions in power, cooling, integrated infrastructure, and services for AI factories and other data centers.

Since rack power consumption in AI environments exceeds 300 kilowatts, the 800 V DC architecture provides more efficient centralized power delivery by reducing copper usage, current, and thermal losses. Vertiv’s future portfolio will include centralized rectifiers, high‑efficiency DC busways, rack‑level DC‑DC converters, and DC-compatible backup systems, complementing its already powerful portfolio of AC power management systems.

“As GPUs evolve to support increasingly complex AI applications at gigawatt scale, power and cooling solution providers need to be equally innovative to provide energy‑efficient and high‑density solutions for AI factories. While the 800 V DC portfolio is new, DC power isn’t new to us — it’s a continuation of what we’ve already implemented at scale. We’ve spent decades deploying high‑voltage DC architectures across global telecom, industrial, and data center applications. We’re entering this transition from a position of strength and bringing real‑world experience to meet the demands of AI factories.”

Scott Armul

Executive Vice President of Global Portfolio and Business Units at Vertiv

VERTIV has many years of experience in developing 48 V and ±400 V DC power systems, which makes the collaboration with NVIDIA a logical step toward implementing innovative 800 V DC solutions. These solutions support critical loads in global telecom networks, integrated microgrids, and facilities with high reliability requirements. This foundation establishes Vertiv as a trusted leader in the safe design, implementation, and operation of high‑voltage DC architectures with proven scalability, a broad portfolio, and long‑term serviceability.

Designed for homogeneous AI zones in hyperscale environments, Vertiv’s 800 V DC portfolio is a key element of its “compute unit” strategy - a system-level design engineered to allow all infrastructure components to operate as one modular and scalable system, meeting the needs of next‑generation GPUs. Vertiv’s support for both AC and DC architectures is a strategic differentiator in the evolving landscape of AI‑focused data centers.

Thanks to the strategic partnership with NVIDIA, Vertiv demonstrates its readiness to provide energy‑efficient solutions for next‑generation data centers. In Ukraine, Vertiv products can be obtained through the official distributor - Alpha Grissin. This opens the opportunity to implement advanced power and cooling technologies today, preparing for the challenges of future AI infrastructure.

Vertiv Avocent MergePoint Unity 2: KVM switch for secure remote access in IT infrastructure management

In distributed IT environments with central data centers, edge locations, branches, and remote servers, it is critical to ensure rapid response to incidents and minimize physical visits to sites. This is especially true for operations performed at the pre-boot stage or when in-band management is unavailable. For such scenarios, Vertiv has expanded its portfolio of remote management solutions with the introduction of Avocent MergePoint Unity 2 (MPU2) KVM switches for secure out-of-band access in enterprise and edge data centers.

AI load in data centers: new aspects of uninterruptible power supply system development

The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms significantly changes the energy consumption profile in data centers. Unlike traditional computing processes, AI loads are characterized by high amplitude transients (instantaneous jumps in electrical current parameters): energy consumption can vary from 10% to 130% in milliseconds. Such impulse loads pose risks to the frequency stability and thermal state of power electronics.
