Expansion of the data center
By 2016, it became clear that at the current pace of business development, all of New Telco's data center resources would soon be used up. This mainly concerns the power supply and cooling subsystems. Therefore, a decision was made to move the main utilities outside the main building, placing them in a special engineering module.

The modular solution allowed not only to solve the issue of increasing the capacity of the data center infrastructure, but also freed up useful space for commercial racks. The cooling system was also modernized, with water systems installed alongside freon room air conditioners. This combination allowed us to achieve optimal energy efficiency due to the fact that each of the two types of cooling is used when the most favorable environmental conditions occur. In addition, a high level of fault tolerance is ensured. The operator's climate control system currently allows for the removal of up to 500 kW of heat, including redundancy. However, the outdoor module is designed to accommodate three more chillers and a total of 12-13 freon units.
All the necessary communications have been prepared for this, and the equipment can be installed at the right time. According to estimates, this approach would increase the data center's capacity to more than 1,000 kW, of which approximately 750 kW would be for IT loads. It should be noted that the module has three levels: the first one has a diesel generator set at the bottom, the second has a water distribution system, backup cold storage and a power unit, and the third has chillers and condensers.
Modular approach
In February 2016, when the project started, the site of the new engineering module was empty.
The project was implemented simultaneously with the delivery and installation of the equipment. This allowed us to put the module into operation without delay. Thanks to the modular approach, we managed to achieve our goal of expanding the data center capacity without rebuilding the building, moving or looking for new premises, and creating the necessary prerequisites for sustainable development in the future.
