Hollow tube system

The main component of the solution for pneumatic laying of fiber optic cables in hollow tubes is the tubes themselves. Today, the most common is the use of microtubes with an outer diameter of 5 to 16 mm. This solution allows to realize all the advantages of this technology. Microtubes can be used individually, but more often they are fixed with an additional sheath to form a system. Different manufacturers use their own names, but by design they can be divided into:

  • A bandage of several microtubes with a number of 2 or more, united by a thin sheath.

  • A system of microtubes, often with a number of 2 to 8, the additional shell of which forms a flat structure.

  • A system of thin-layer microtubes located inside a thick-walled outer shell.

More information

Each of the designs has its own characteristics, and, accordingly, its own field of application. For example, the first one can be used for FTTx solutions, the second one for the installation of optical communications in the roadway for SMART City projects, and the third one for the construction of long fiber optic highways.

All other types of solutions are based on the modification of these structures. For example, single tubes or a bandage of several microtubes with an integrated metal or non-metallic force element are used to suspend microtubes between supports for so-called “air” Arial installations.

For use inside buildings, microtubes made of LSZH materials that meet fire safety standards are used.
